(30 pts) Explain which category(s) of descriptive statistics (measures of frequency, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion/variation, or measures of position) is used in the study and how it is used to communicate the information found in the study. What are examples of the descriptive statistics data? What type of descriptive statistics are they considered? Why do you feel the author used this type of descriptive statistic was used to tell this story or to paint this picture? State conclusions and provide any solutions found in the study. How do you feel using the data the descriptive statistics can help lead to the solution? Make sure to clearly connect your explanation to the purpose/real world problem the article is addressing. (Length 1–2 paragraphs
The descriptive statistics which was used for the article is the measures of frequency particularly percentages. The percentages are used in showing the trend of the job gains over the months after the onset of the pandemic. The author used this particular descriptive statistic as it explains the gap between the jobs gained and what is yet to be gained. When the pandemic started 22 million jobs were lost but according to the author, 90% of these jobs have been gained. This statistic helps the audience understand that we do not have a long way to go when it comes to the issues of unemployment (Davidson, 2022). Using this statistic helps the situation by pushing the government to put in more efforts to create employment for its people. The conclusion made in the article is that February 2022 was one of the months with the highest number of job gains since the start of the pandemic.
Part B- Week 8- Slides
Part C- Week 9
(22.5 pts) Week 9 Task: Explain how the article applies to the real world, your major, your current job, or your future career goal. Describe several connections, using specific examples, between the information presented, its problem and its larger impact to the world/your major/current job/future career goal (1-2 paragraphs).
The selected article talks about unemployment which is related to the real world and how the people have been affected by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Most people lost their jobs when the pandemic started because of the restrictions which were put in place regarding the movements of people out and into the country (Davidson, 2022). The cases of the corona virus are going down and the economy is opening up and this is the reason why most people are getting their jobs and employment back. The impact on the world has been joblessness over the period of the pandemic and increased levels of poverty.
(30 pts) Week 9 Task: What solutions do you recommend based on analysis of data and conclusions drawn? Recommend several highly relevant and valid solutions based on the analysis of data and conclusions drawn using mathematical and visual data provided in the article. (1-2 paragraphs; See weeks 7 and 8 Learn in Blackboard).
To help deal with the unemployment I recommend that the country sets up new factories to help open up new jobs for the people and employ more people who are unskilled. Another way to get out of unemployment is through self-employment and this can be achieved through the issuing of grants and loans to young people that can be used in creating small businesses. This is a good idea because it will help ensure that additional jobs are created in the different sectors and hence will raise the number of the job gains in the coming months.
