Maintaining good working conditions is an important function because it helps in providing good working conditions to the employees for the purposes of motivating them to like the workplace.

Significance of the functions

The function of recruitment and selection is important to any organization. As pointed out by (Leonard, 2018), effective recruitment and selection plays a key role in adding value to any HR department as well as supporting the mission and vision of the company. Therefore, the function helps in finding quality candidates something that is highly prioritized in Company B. Finding the right candidates will involve the establishment of a proper job description and advertising in places that will attract individuals with the right skills. Recruitment and selection function also saves time and money. This is normally achieved by conducting proper selection. The function also reduces cases of legal consequences. Orientation is equally an important function. This is because it helps in integrating employees to the unique culture of the company. It makes it possible for employees to be acquainted with the policies, work culture, procedures and other employees. As pointed out by (Zaineb, 2010), orientation usually make new employees feel valued since it provides an opportunity for employees to know their specific services. It also plays a role of reducing start up time and cost. Additionally, it boosts productivity and retention. This is because it eliminates confusion and it instead increases the speed of performing jobs as per the stipulated expectations. The function of maintaining good working conditions is important as well. Every employee deserves a conducive working environment for the purposes of performing exemplary in the assigned tasks. The recruitment method that will be selected by Company B in order to attract the best quality candidates for these positions is the external recruitment. This method of recruitment will involve advertisements that will be placed on national newspapers and notice boards. The advertisements will have important information such as job title, method of application and job description. Company B chose external recruitment method because it will bring on board outside individuals with new ideas that will assist in meeting the goals of the company. Additionally, it brings together a larger group of workers from which the best candidate can be selected. Furthermore, it brings together individuals with wider range of experiences. The selection method that will be used for the purposes of attracting the best quality candidates is panel interview. The methods also provides consistency regarding the questions asked thus there is no room for misinterprettions.

A compensation and benefit package is important in any given organization. As shared by (Miller, 2018), employees rate compensation as among the key contributor to job satisfaction. Since Company B is aiming to attract and maintain great talents, the compensation and benefit package for the new HR staff will be as follows; in order to appreciate the efforts of the staff, they will be paid at the end of every month and the salary will be a fixed amount. The salary will be dependent on the position of the employee in the company. Apart from the salaries, the staff will be entitled to paid leaves. The staff will have two weeks paid leave and they will be expected to utilize all the vacation days. The company will put in place a policy whereby employees who fail to apply for leave days will lose those days, in that they will not be forwarded to the following year. This will hinder employees from suffering from burnout as well as stressing other employees in the workplace. Additionally, employees will be expected to apply for leaves a month prior to the leave for the purposes of providing adequate time of processing the leave and scheduling of activities when that employee will be away. Family medical leave will also be another benefit to the employees. This benefit will allow employees to take up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave for the purposes of caring for a sick individual in the family. During this time, the job of the employee will be open until he/she returns. New mothers will be accorded twelve weeks of paid maternity leave. New fathers will also be entitled to paternity leave as well. As an additional benefit, Company B is working on coming up with a designated nursing room that will be used by new mothers. Additionally, adjustments will be made on schedules for the purposes of accommodating childcare problems. The company will also come up with a strong retirement savings plan. The savings plan will be an employer-sponsored retirement savings program. The package will provide a high return on investment to the company because the staff will be motivated to dedicate their time and skills in the services of the company thus leading to high quality products and services.
