Mandated Reporting (Substantive Responses to the Question Will Count for Participation Points!)

This week you will discuss critical issues that families encounter. One major concern that continues to confront families is child maltreatment. In most jurisdictions, social workers are mandated reporters and required to report suspected cases child abuse and neglect. For an opportunity to receive participation points, review your state’s requirement on mandated reporting. Provide a brief description on mandated reporting in your state and identify who is considered to be a mandated reporter. Utilizing the information you have gathered, share the steps you would take to report child maltreatment. Response back to teacher with all information.

Covid-19 has been life changing for many of us. Some worse off than others. Being that unemployment is at it high right now, many families are really living in poverty. People are behind on bills and have no money to survive. People are not getting adequate healthcare services. Which causes children who are use to getting medicine miss doses and miss follow up appointments. Another family issue is children are being raised by single parents. Not having a proper up bringing can cause issues when they become parents or just in general. A lot of these issues are generational curses. Families have many issues because they were never taught the proper way to do it. One major issue is that children face is missing meals. While having school online many children missed a lot of meals, a lot of children rely on school meals daily because they don’t have food at home. A few ways to help families in these situations is by giving them resources. Some resources include applying for snap benefits, applying for Hud subsidized housing, and counseling.Working on social justice, we as social workers want to take part in the work interested in honoring discrepancy and variety. We apply the expressions commemorate built on its unique values, who implies to respect, reverence, or acknowledge. We ought to push past accepting or recognizing persons who remain diverse from everyone to a view of social humbleness that needs us to doubt our experience and capabilities to perform in collaboration with others. We need be involved in constant identity-evaluation and recognition of how control disparities change our skill to be truly beneficial.
