Week 6 LAB – Linux Installation
Follow the screenshots to complete the installation of Linux Ubuntu:
We will be creating a new virtual machine name ‘perth’ as shown below and
install Linux in there.
We have set 1 GB for memory, but in case you have 4 GB RAM, select around
800 MB max.

Now for the size of the hard disk, select 8 GB as shown below:
Once you have created the VM, you should see it in the list:
Now it is time to install Linux into this VM. First power on the VM, load the ISO
as shown below and click Start:

Now make sure you see three green ticks, plus if the ‘Download updates while
installing’ is checked, uncheck (untick) it, same for ‘install this third-party
software’. Leave those 2 boxes unticked as shown. Press Continue.

Installation should now start, it may take anywhere between 20 mins to 40
mins.

Now once the installation is over, it will ask for Restart, so restart it. However,
in some cases you may see that after restart your Linux got stuck at something
like the image below; in this case just power off the VM and power it back on.
If all goes properly, you should see the Desktop as displayed below:
This completes our Linux installation.
