Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, you must successfully complete the Week 5 Terminology Quiz before you will be allowed to post in this discussion forum. The Week 5 Terminology quiz is intended to support your ability to write critically considered postings, that are accurate and aligned to the prompt appropriately.
Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 in your text.
To successfully complete this discussion,
1. Choose two of the following disorders to discuss with your peers:

· Tourette’s disorder/syndrome
· Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
· Dementia
· Conduct disorder
· Separation anxiety disorder
· Autism spectrum disorder
· Amnestic disorders
2. Discuss the following as related to the disorders you chose:
·
· Discuss the symptoms associated with the disorder you chose to focus on.
· Analyze the differences and similarities between your chosen disorders to other similar illness/diagnosis.
· Discuss the ethical implications of why it is important to understand the symptoms of disorders in general and to not diagnose without having a plethora of knowledge about the patient and a license to practice.
· Describe the role of the environment on managing behaviors to the disorder you have chosen.
· Evaluate the impact of the family in managing a loved one suffering from the disorder you choose.
Post your initial response of 300 words or more by Day 3 (Thursday). Respond to at least two of your peers by Day 7 (Monday). Peer postings should be a minimum of 200 words each.
Guided Peer Responses: Peer responses should be carefully crafted and insightful. The goal of the discussion forum is to foster continual dialogue, similar to what might occur in a verbal face-to-face exchange. Consider discussing areas of interest as well as the following questions in your responses:
· Discuss the disorders you shared with your peers.
· Find common symptoms between your peers’ chosen disorders and yours.
· Discuss any additional treatments that you may be aware of that your peer may not have included.
Instructor Responses: Review any instructor feedback on your postings. Often feedback is shared to help you to elevate your level of critical thought or make corrections. Reply based on this feedback to advance your understanding of the content addressed.

· Remember that discussion forums should be conversations; dialogue is encouraged throughout the course.
· Provide a courteous and interactive learning environment.
· Continue to monitor this discussion through 5:00 p.m. on Day 7 of the week and reply to anyone (instructor or classmate) who has chosen to respond to your original post.
· Your grade will reflect the quality of your initial post, the depth of your peer replies, and your active support of forum dialogue.
· Your responses should demonstrate that you have read the existing replies on the board. (In your response, mention information and viewpoints already expressed by existing responses to the same post.)
· The peer responses should deeply reflect on the content.
· You are encouraged to post one or more of your required replies early each week (e.g., by Saturday) to stimulate more meaningful and interactive discourse in the discussion forum.
