Second, read Chapter 5 in Matthews and Hendricks: Utilitarianism

Third, prepare your Short Paper 5 (1-2 typed pages, full directions below) covering the following topics:

 

1. A. Describe in your own words these schools of Utilitarianism:

         1) Classical Utilitarianism including Mill's three considerations of desirability, exhaustiveness,                  and impartiality

          2) Act Utilitarianism

          3)  Rule Utilitarianism.

B. Create at least one ORIGINAL example like the Trolley problem to illustrate objections to Utilitarianism.

 

3. Conclude by telling me which school of Utilitarianism  (if any) is most appealing to you and why.
