Chapter 21
In chapter 21, “Performance Appraisals” it talks about the importance of giving an employee review. When you are about to give an employee review it is best that you have prepared your information in advance, you should make sure that you keep notes of their performance throughout the year and review their performance before writing. You must also ask other colleagues for their feedback on the employee so that you can have a better understanding of their performance. When writing the performance of the employee, it is best that you talk about their attitude, efficiency, human relations, judgment, knowledge, reliability, and communication skills.
Analysis
I found chapter 21, “Performance Appraisals” to be really important because I never really knew what a performance appraisal was until I read the chapter, which is basically an employee review. This chapter taught me that in order to write a good employee review, it would be better if you were to gather information or facts about the employee in advance. You must keep performance notes and review the notes you have taken about the employee throughout the year because it would improve the review you would write about the employee. I found this to be important because the more information that you have accumulated throughout the years about an employee, the more you will be able to see the progress that he has on the company. However, if you don’t gather information throughout the year, then you would have no information on the employee when you make your review on him, you wouldn’t know if he has improved and help the company or has become a burden to the company and to those around him. This chapter also taught me that to get a better understanding of an employee, I should ask other colleagues for feedback on what they think about the employee. This is good information because you are then able to get an insight of what the coworkers who work around the employee think about him, you are then able to get more facts that you couldn’t have achieved on your own. The performance appraisal is a great way to evaluate your employees and give them feedbacks.
