When using existing statistics, you will want to make sure your unit of analysis and methodology is compatible with the research question you are working on, “you will need to decide if the way the variables are measured in the data set works with the way you have conceptualized for your research.” (Gordon, 2019, Pg. 158) It is important that you collect data that is directly related or compatible to your hypothesis because you will possibly need recode or collapse your variables and then add to this to create a new analysis.

Hi Professor and Class,
In data research using existing statistics it is critical that your reseach reflects and is compatable with your hypothesis. This is because if it is not compatable with the hypothesis then the study will not be accurate and variables will most likley need to be changed. For the study to be accurate both research and variables should be examined.
