Climate change is a significant change in the long term experienced weather patterns of a place {M: Comma} and it has been of great concern globally because of its prevailing negative effects (W.H.O, 2018). In this essay, I will be discussing the negative effects of climate change, their projected devastating effects {M: comma} and their effects on general human health.
Accordingly, climate change is perceived to bring a sudden increase in the intensity and patterns of various hurricanes. This creates a worrying state since the storms are expected to grow strong and appear more often {M: comma} and it is feared that they may grow up to “category 6” storms, which is not included in the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale yet (Mooney, 2018). For over a decade now, scientists have been trying to establish the relationship between the hurricanes and the warming of the climate. The small difference between category 1 and 2 winds has made it difficult to forecast the process of hurricane strengthening (Mooney, 2018). Hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are usually associated with the destruction of property and deaths.
Flooding is another major effect of climate change {M: comma} and it is a significant concern due to various damages associated with it, such as destruction of infrastructure, destruction of houses, deaths, and damage to sanitation systems (W.H.O, 2018). Further, rainfall potential in the United States is elevated by frequent tropical cyclones and increased ocean heat. Increased temperatures caused by the greenhouse gasses increase the atmospheric water vapor which is collected by storms {M: comma} thus bringing about heavy rains (Freedman & Samenow, 2019). The United States is usually affected by most common tropical weather systems in areas {M:comma} such as Imelda, Harvey, and Florence.
Furthermore, climate change has distinctive effects on human health, {U: comma splice} for instance, interference in the supply of freshwater leads to exposure to water infected with vectors that cause diseases, such as cholera that is associated with many deaths worldwide (W.H.O, 2018). People who fall victims of hurricanes and floods may became psychologically compromised since they are traumatized because of the greasy {U: wrong word} events. Equally, there have been increased cases of malaria which are responsible for approximately 400,000 deaths every year {M: comma} and this is due to the increased wet conditions that favor the breeding of the vector (W.H.O, 2018). Extreme heat also increases the levels of allergens such as pollen and other aeroallergens which may trigger asthma in some populations.
Overall, the current effects of climate change are enough to instill fear in humans and make them struggle to find better ways of going through them. Again, there is needs {U: no -s} of enough forecast on impending hurricanes or any other winds to create awareness among communities in order to reduce the intensity of the damage. The green economy should also be advocated for to aid reducing the extremeness of climate change in the future.
