Aliens in Research (Not required, but can count towards participation)
Hi Everyone!
I would like to pose a hypothetical scenario to you all to ponder:
Geryon and Chrysaor are two social researchers from the planet Dimidium who came to earth to understand human culture. One of their chief interests is in the beliefs and practices of Christianity and whether differ in different areas of the United States, as it is very different from what they are used to on their own planet. While Geryon and Chrysaor are close friends and colleagues, Geryon prefers using a positivist methodology while Chrysaor uses an interpretivist methodology.
How should Geryon conduct his research? How should Chrysaor?

Re: Topic 3 DQ 2
Hello Class,
Positivist and interpretivist research methodologies are widely used in social research studies to analyze the relationship between human beings and society. However, both theoretical methods differ based on their key elements of focus in the research studies. The major difference between the two methods is based on the fact that positivist methodology is guided by the use of scientific methods in analyzing the impact of human behavior on society and vice versa (Gordon, 2019). On the other hand, interpretivist methodology is guided by the use of non-scientific techniques in analyzing the relationship between human behavior and society.
