Hi Class,
There are many populations that a social worker may work with for instance; schools, hospitals, communities and mental health clinics. As you enter the field a social worker should be conscious of the various settings and learn to adapt to wherever they may work as it could be adults with impairments, additions, disabilities and children. It is important that you know the different populations and cultures so that you can understand, communicate and build a rapport better with your clients in order to have an effective case (Summers, 2015). I am interested in working with the children population as I have already been working with children for 6 years. I love learning new ways to understand, help and connect with them. Disadvantage children do not deserve poor treatment or have to feel like they are alone, everyone deserves someone in their corner. I want to be that person to advocate, and help in anyway possible.
