Project Risk Management, Context, and Identification

Effective project management is most important and this will reflect a different set of benefits on the organization and there are risks related to the project and they need to be managed. It involves identifying the risks related to the project and evaluating it to a better extent and then going with preventing the threats by applying some of the risk management techniques (Edwards et al., 2019). After that, there should be mitigation of risks in the project, and desired outcomes should be expected. Risks need to be managed before they become an issue in the business and project management and lead to changes in managing the project.

Project risk includes some contexts and drivers and physical risk context includes addressing the group behavior and economic one includes managing the risk based on the economic conditions (Edwards et al., 2019). The other ones are social external and technical contexts that will change the structure of the project management. Some of the drivers know the nature of the risks and their impact on the project and the next one is analyzing the strength of the project and managing the project effectively with managing all the activities (Edwards et al., 2019). Informing all the subsequent stages of the project risk is also a driver and these are most important in risk management.

Project risks need to be identified at the earlier stage and some of how these can be identified are through the interviews and making better assumption analysis (Edwards et al., 2019). Using brainstorming techniques can also be useful in this and make the analysis effective. Checklists need to be prepared and in this company’s all kinds of risks to be involved and cause and effect diagrams to be prepared. Most of the organizations go with an affinity diagram and this is helpful to get all the participants together and know that risk is associated with any of the members (Edwards et al., 2019).

Factors for Project High Risk

Some of the characteristics that will make the project risks higher include highly visible projects and there can be a lack of scope document and ineffective development of the documents. The other one is having inconsistent communication and poor planning between the team members can also lead to project risks higher (Edwards et al., 2019). Poor monitoring and risk management with having unrealistic expectations are a part of this.

Types of Project Risk

Project risks can be of a different kind and there can be cost risks and this can be because of less availability of funds and leading to performance risk. The next one is schedule risk and when the project takes time more than the expected one there can be schedule risk and an increase in the cost can be a cause for this (Edwards et al., 2019). Environment risks include hidden hazards in the project execution and serious incidents lead to change in the risk.

Good Project Risk

A good project risk should be written with the proper title of the risk and then explaining the risk in detail and going with the detailed explanation regarding the risk (Edwards et al., 2019). After that there should be risk consequences to be followed and targeting the resolution date is also necessary with explaining mitigation action for such risks.
