Extending the airport boundary: Connecting physical security and cybersecurity
The authors’ views:
Airports are more and more dealing with considerable challenges towards effective
airport security. The authors introduce a practice about creating a platform for sharing
information and knowledge to defend airports against cyber and terror attacks. The threat is
shifting from airside to landside, towards public areas (Willemsen & Cadee, 2018).
My view:
The author of this article outlined some of the most common issues we have in our airport

The author’s views:
According to Jackson Jr (2018), physical security alarm systems and access controls have
not changed in decades. Much of the present technologies are clearly obsolete, which includes
not only the individual components and sensors, but also the methods and topologies used to
connect to centralized control panels. How these system security components are connected has
been fundamentally accomplished by stringing wires and cables to a central monitoring point or
control panel from each point of egress. More recently, these control panels are being connected
to computers.

The author’s views:
Violence in K-12 schools is a phenomenon which contains challenges and controversy,
particularly when determining a proper response. Kelly (2016) stated that school principals in
New Jersey face a predicament when formulating the best methodology to provide a safe
environment for their students and faculty, while simultaneously creating an atmosphere that is
conducive to education.

This type of research relating to physical security and the public-school system in the
