The Quality Indicators are used by acute care hospitals to highlight potential quality concerns, identify areas that need further investigation and study and track changes over time in their administrative data.

HIQRP quality indicators

Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting

The quality indicators are applicable for the collection of quality data or information from hospitals that are paid under the inpatient prospective payment system with the aim of driving the quality improvement through transparency and public displays so that the consumers can have the choice for choosing the healthcare; clinicians are also encouraged to improve their standards.

IPFQR quality indicators

Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Program

The quality indicators ensure that the clinicians can improve the quality for the patients by ensuring the providers understand and gives reports concerning their best facilities and care standard through submission of annual data of quality to CMS.

Hospital OQR indicators

The Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Program

Through that quality indicators, the hospitals are supposed to submit information concerning the quality measures of care which are furnished through hospitals in the setting of outpatient, the quality requires hospitals to meet the administrative, collection and submission of data and validation of social requirements.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is responsible for the majority of the health care programs that are used for the measurement of the program effectiveness; the measures are used for assessing the organizations that are classified as processes structure, or measures of outcome. The structural measures give information concerning the kind of facilities and hospital has the provider to patient ratio and number of physicians certified. The processes measure shows what the providers are doing for improvement and maintenance of health for diagnosed and other healthy individuals. Finally, the outcome measures are the reflection of the effect of the intervention, for instance, the number of patients that died following a surgical (Talib, and Rahman, 2015).
