Overview: You and some of your friends have just purchased a farm. All of the owners want to ensure that, when it comes to health and safety, all of the basis are covered. To do this everyone has agreed that a health and safety manual needs to be created.
Assignment Logistics: This is a group assignment. Students will create a manual to be used on the farm. The manual must include information from each chapter of the “Management of Occupational Health and Safety” book.
· The group members will agree on what chapters each member will cover and who will create the title/cover page and table of content. The document must also include a minimum of three templates/tools/links to tools. The document is considered a living document, meaning that out of date information can be removed easily while new information/tools can be added easily.
· Each group will need a group lead. The group lead will be responsible for working with the group to develop a contract for each member to sign agreeing to the conditions of the agreement. Those conditions could include but are not limited to attendance to scheduled meetings (at least three outside of on campus class time), timelines to submit documents, ensuring a respectful environment for all members.
· The manual must adhere to the following format and all sections should be consistent in organization, font and layout.
This document MUST include each of the following:
1. Title Page and Table of Contents:
· Title page/cover is eye catching
· Clearly communicates to the reader what the document is about.
· Includes the name of the document, date document was completed
· Includes the name and student # of group members
· Inclusion of table of contents
2. Overall Organization:
· Clearly labelled sections and something that easily guides the reader to specific section
· Easy to read and understand. User-Friendly
· Information in the document is correct based on the information provided to you in the “Management of Occupational Health and Safety” book and other reliable/professional resources
· Correct spelling and grammar
· Includes tools/templates
· Includes a minimum of three links to tools/templates and/or information
· Each section is organized consistently
· Sections/pages can be easily removed or added
3. Images/Creativity:
· Inclusion of at least 1 image per section
· Use of creativity and aesthetically pleasing design
4. Introduction of Document
· Not to be confused with the introduction in the book. This is the introduction of the Safety Procedures Manual for a Farm Business.
· Clearly introduces the document and the purpose of the document
· Includes a brief history that explains why the manual has been created
· Use of in-text citations according to APA format
5. Sections:
· All 14 sections are complete
· Must be based on information found in the “Management of Occupational Health and Safety” book and other reliable/professional resources.
· Easy to find and retrieve each section
· Use of in-text citations according to APA format
6. Conclusion
· Revisits or summarizes the main points referred to in the introduction
· Clearly brings the document to a definite end
· Includes provocation and thought via a quote/question/challenge
· As applicable, includes in-text citations according to APA format
7. References Page
· Adheres to APA format
· Includes all sources for in-text citations
