1 Example Professional Identity Statement
This example is an actual statement from a Walden Faculty Member. You are not to copy and
edit this example. It is provided to give you an example of what may be included in your
Professional Identity Statement. Your statement should reflect the beliefs, values, and
commitments that you hold as you evaluate how they relate to an advanced human services
professional practitioner.
Dr. Antoinette Pigatt, HS-BCP
Walden University
“I am committed to affecting positive change in individuals, families, and society. As a
spiritual being, grounded in the practice and principles of Christianity, I honor this commitment
and purpose as my ministry to the world. I am a firm believer in human service. Therefore, my
passion for human service motivates a desire to see each person experience the uniqueness of
who they are and to operate in purpose with love, acceptance, and awareness. As a member of
the African-American community, I celebrate diversity, pledge to cultural humility, and commit
to providing cross-cultural service. As such, I support advocacy for the wellness, equitable
treatment, and advancement of all people. I believe in the power of love, awareness, forgiveness,
acceptance, restoration, reconciliation, choice, and spirituality to facilitate individual and family
growth through prevention and intervention support services.”
