As we do not meet in a classroom setting, I'd like you to take some time to get to know each other. Food is the center of many of our daily practices. These may be social, religious, cultural, etc. As a way of getting to know your fellow classmates, I'd like you first to tell us what your favorite food is. Then, I'd like you to tell us about a food you dislike most and why you dislike it so much!

Also, In Chapter 2 of your text, you will be learning about the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the "old" Food Guide Pyramid. I have attached the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Choose my Plate link, which is the graphic representation for the Dietary Guidelines.  I would like you to review the documents I have attached.  Discuss how these new recommendations impact your current nutrition and activity habits. I'd also like you to comment on Choose My Plate as a picture model of the Dietary Guidelines. I'd like to hear your feelings as to how user-friendly these resources are and if you feel that people will be able to comply with the recommendations. Is this a more effective tool, as compared to the Food Guide Pyramid?
