Week 1 - Assignment: Explore Your Research Mindset

Instructions

This week, you had the opportunity to begin examining what basic research is and explore

the importance of having a research mindset as you approach the end of your DHA courses

and move into your applied doctoral experience project courses.

For this assignment, you will reflect on your current research mindset. The following

questions are meant to guide you as you begin to reflect on your research mindset. Your

reflection should not simply be an answer to these questions.

Do I have a research mindset?

What does having a research mindset actually mean to me?

What are my apprehensions about research?

What areas of research am I confident in?

Why should I bother learning about research basics?

How will this help me as I continue to pursue my degree?

How can this help me contribute to the profession or its practices?

What areas of research am I comfortable with?

What areas of research do I feel I do not quite understand and may need guidance in?

Length: 2-3 pages, not including title and reference pages

References: Include a minimum of 3 scholarly resources

Your reflection paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts

that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this

topic. Your response should reflect graduate-level writing and APA standards.
