Create a Website!!

Website Activity

1. Read Pages 416 - 418 for information on curriculum pages.

2. Review the resources for web design principles (discussion board).

3. Create a two-page class website using a free site for creating web pages:

Page 1 (homepage) should include:

· Your name, a picture of you, and your contact information

· The grade/subject area

· At least 4 distinct sections/areas identified by headings (for example – learning objectives, supplies needed, important dates, upcoming events, classroom rules, behavior expectations, etc). It is required that you have a section for the learning objectives (what will be covered/what students will learn. TIP: Your Open House presentation might be a good place to start – no need to reinvent the wheel.

· Appropriate graphic

· A link to the curriculum page

Page 2 (curriculum page) should include:

· A project/assignment that your class will need to complete (description, instructions/directions, grading rubric) that supports the curriculum/learning objectives. Use one of the sites in the Resources folder (or another free site) to find a template for your rubric.

· Links to websites (that you have pre-evaluated) that the students will use as online resources for the project/assignment (at least 2). Show both the website name and URL.

· Descriptions for each of the links below the weblink (what information will be found on each website)

· A link to the homepage

4. Publish the site, then copy and paste your link to the homepage in Blackboard, and submit.
