When making a decision, it is crucial to assess your results since while choosing an action, we use mental processes that are impacted by biases, reason, emotions, and memories. The idea that we have free will is supported by the straightforward act of choosing. We assess the advantages and disadvantages of our decision before dealing with the results. For instance, in research and development, which is essential to progress and a major role in gaining new advantages.  When making an effort to invest in research and development, a vast amount of information comes together. This is what makes Intel so extraordinarily successful and with all their research and development results in useful data that the company can use to further develop its core product offerings. Indeed, research and development are important, but keep in mind that it is mostly costly when making any adjustment.
