Title of Paper
Water is the source of life. Water is indispensable to human health. People cannot eat for a few day, but we cannot drink water for days. Perhaps everyone will say, but how many people attach importance to our water, and how many people protect the source of life. In our daily life, water is indispensable for bathing or cooking. In some tourist attractions, whether it is West Lake and Jiuzhaigou Valley in China, or famous Watertown Venice. Water is the main character. In industrial development, whether it is hydropower station or some industrial production, without the water, machinery cannot function properly. Now people in growing numbers are beginning to realize that change their behavior to protect and save water resources.
Who dares say that there is no water to drink? The earth will never have that day. The earth’s greatest resource is water. Therefore, they think that we do not need to save water. Three-quarters of the earth’s surface is covered by water. That number seems to satisfy the global demand for water. In the Video, “A Country with No Water”, Fahad Al-Attiya(2012) says that water desalination is a sustainable solution to water scarcity in cites suck as Doha, Dubai. In those cities, solar energy provides enough power to desalinate amounts of water”. The human can artificially purify the seawater. Every day, you can open your own water tap to drain hundred tons of water or buy a hundred bottles of drinking water and waste it. All of that just waste your own money. The water still flows on the earth.
They may be right about that the area of water is large in the earth, but they seem to neglect to mention the fact that not all of water we can use. Desalination is one of the solutions, but most desalination plants are shut down soon after completion due to high-energy consumption and high costs. In Dubai, where is affluent part of the world, this method is used to obtain fresh water. The actual situation is not encouraging. 99% of the existing water reserves are not suitable for human use of seawater and polar ice. The remaining 1% is mostly below 800 meters, and the rivers and lakes that people depend on are only 0.01% of the total amount. According to Deng Tingting(2017) in her article, “In China, the Water You Drink is as Dangerous as the Air You Breath” says that “ Its water pollution crisis continues unabated-85% of the water in the city’s major rivers was undrinkable in 2015, according to official standards, and 56.4% was unfit for any purpose.”It is a sign that humanity is facing a shortage of fresh water.
Most of the people are of the opinion that change personal behavior will not affect so much. According to the video, “Fresh Water Scarcity”, Christiana Peppard are arguing that 8% water consumption for personal use, 70% water goes to agriculture, and 22% water is used for industrial. Everyone change the use water behaviors can figure out the water shortages. However, it is not enough for millions of residents to save one month of water for large industrial use or farming use for a day. Water conservation cannot protect water resources. Why not enjoy taking a long shower or use water as much as you want.
The change personal behavior can result for that affects to change farming and industrial development. If everyone is aware of the water crisis and water saving, people will reasonable to use water, efficient use it, and not wasted water anymore. Relying on scientific and technological innovation to strengthen water resource conservation is an important measure to save water, and it is an important guarantee for the further development of water-saving society. Farming relying on the advanced science and technology can improve the water-saving effect more efficiently. The government should research and development of advanced and practical water-saving technology. We will continue to increase investment in water-saving irrigation and irrigation, and increase the support for industrial water-saving technologies.
On the one hand, water can help economic development. On the other hand, water pollution is unavoidable. This awful situation has not attracted enough attention. The rivers and lakes that people depend on are increasingly threatened by pollution. Christiana Peppard describes that every 15 second one of child die of unclean water disease, and Deng Tingting(2017) wrote that “In 2011, report emerged that said Luliang Chemical industry in Yunnan province had disposed of 5000 tonnes of chemical waste next to a river used as a drinking water source.” Therefore, the most fundamental way to control the pollution of rivers and lakes is to control pollution sources. We know that rivers and lakes are contaminated by industrial wastewater and urban and rural sewage. Only by eliminating pollutants into rivers and lakes, or reducing their Numbers, the original pollutants in rivers and lakes will gradually decrease with the flow of water and dilution.
As far as I am concerned, water is the source of the life, the blood of industry, and the lifeblood of the city. If we destroy water resource, it is equal to pollute oneself blood. Let us protect our water from now, it is my responsibility and it also everyone’s responsibility.
