Watch Jackson Katz's documentary Tough Guise 2 (link below)

Tough Guise 2 explores what it means to be a "man" in the  United States today.  Katz analyzes everything from toys, sports culture, advertisements and movies and concludes that messages of violence and aggression are normalized in today's male culture. The consequences, he argues, are dire and dangerous not only for young boys and men, but for the rest of society as well.

After completing the readings on masculinity and watching Tough Guise 2, please consider the following questions as your craft your four (4) page response paper.

· What did you learn about the relationship between the media and masculinity?

· What were some of the most interesting and/or disturbing parts of the documentary? Why?

· Can you think of examples from your own life  that support or challenge Katz's analysis?

· What does this documentary tell us hegemonic masculinity and the consequences it has on boys, men, and the rest of society?

· What does it teach us about the intersections of masculinity, race/ethnicity, sexuality, class and/or other categories of identity?   Or, does this documentary leave room for further intersectional analysis?
