1. just to add on, research solves the need of the population. It also helps to prove the hypothesis which thus facilitates learning process among the scientist and all field of expertise. For example, with the current pandemic situation, research is the only way that will help people get through a situation. Therefore, every research done will improve the life of a humanity or anything that exist in this world.
2. Within your post you bring up some very interesting points which I will agree with. Two that caught my eye were first, “Conducting research is vital to the sustainability of information and knowledge about psychology”. And second,“Research also helps to affirm or deny assertions and concepts portrayed by other scholars in the past. The research will allow other scholars to understand the world around them even better”. These areas can also lead a researcher to fall into the trap of confirmation bias or researcher bias. This would mean just looking up information that supports your belief, which in turn will give a skewed outcome therefore, doing a disservice to research. Address these concerns and you are right on point.
3. Scientific research is a critical tool for successfully navigating our complex world. Without it, we would be forced to rely solely on intuition, other people’s authority, and blind luck. While many of us feel confident in our abilities to decipher and interact with the world around us, history is filled with examples of how very wrong we can be when we fail to recognize the need for evidence in supporting claims. At various times in history, we would have been certain that the sun revolved around a flat earth, that the earth’s continents did not move, and that mental illness was caused by possession. It is through systematic scientific research that we divest ourselves of our preconceived notions and superstitions and gain an objective understanding of ourselves and our world.
4. A good resume should be no spelling or grammatical errors. Have someone from career services, your academic advisor, and someone you know to be an excellent writer proofread a draft of the document. Having multiple reviewers increases the likelihood of catching errors, correct-ing phrasing and spelling, and of having a clearer resume, it should be brief with no unnecesary information (Hacker & Sommers, 2017) .The most challenging thing I encountered is the length of the resume, since it demands only one page, it was so hard to squeeze everything in one page especially education and work experience. Making sure there is no spelling errors can also be another challenge. Another challenge is coinciding experience needed with the academic qualification or skills experience. In addition, Most of the time what you studied in school might be different from the specific skills the employer is looking for. The biggest question was whether it was the right decision to put all the prior jobs I have done before or just put the relevant skills needed.
5. Writing and revising my resume is something that I have been working on prior to this DQ as I am currently in process of looking for and applying to new employment opportunities. The resume that I currently have already fits one page and it was used to apply and interview for a position that I was offered within the last week. Unfortunately, the position ended up not being a great fit for me or my family, so I had declined it. However, I am still currently working on revising it to better fit different positions as I continue my search. According to Hacker and Sommers (2017), your resume should be modified to meet the requirements of the position that you are applying for, which is a concept I need to work on. Prior to this advice, I have been using the same resume for every position that I apply for. Another thing that I need to work on with my resume is taking outdated information out without making my resume look like I do not have the experience or have gaps in my work history. Providing a cover letter is my biggest challenge. For some reason, cover letters are difficult for me as it makes me feel like I need to sell myself. The way in which Hacker and Sommers (2017) described cover letter writing as 3 paragraphs has made it easier to understand the way in which it should be wrote. They state that it should include how you found their listing and acknowledging the position you are applying for, background information on yourself and why you are a good fit for the position and your interest in their opening. While this was challenging, I also find it extremely helpful.
6. For me, a challenge was that I have never wrote a “real” resume. When I was in high school, I had a class at the school district’s teacher day care. When I graduated, they asked me to come work there. I worked there for a few years and then one lady I knew asked me to come and open a school with her in a special need’s classroom. I worked there for several more years and decided to quit, be a stay at home mom and go back to school. Once I got divorced, I messaged my old boss and got hired back on and have been working there for the past 10 years combined now. (This is my 10th year). So, I have never really done a resume. I have tried to set one up from googling how to do a resume but never submitted it to employers. My biggest question was what goes on the cover letter because I didn’t know that there was such thing. It is one page in length and has three parts to it (Dunn & Halonen, 2016). The first paragraph gives the reason why you are applying and how you heard about the job (Dunn & Halonen, 2016). The second paragraph talks about your background and why you would be a good candidate for the job (Dunn & Halonen, 2016).This is also where you can explain how your skill set matches the needs of the organization and in the third paragraph, you interest in the job opening should be highlighted so that the reader will contact you (Dunn & Halonen, 2016). Another challenge for me was besides my 2 jobs in high school, I have only had one job since 2006, so my resume looks a little bare. I have read somewhere that you only list the last 10 years of your job history, not sure if it is true or not, but if that’s the case, I would only have 1 job listed.
