1. Within your post you bring up some good points when you are evaluating research. I would like to ask a couple of clarifying questions. It sounds to me like the points made are whether you would do the research in the first place. Is this what you were meaning? If so, once the research experiment was given the ok to do and is completed how would you evaluate if it was a sound experiment. Such as was there any experimenter bias? How was the sampling done?
Not trying to pick on you just trying to get the two responses in for today and you and Dr. Carvajal were the only two here to talk with. This is how we get the participation credits.
2. Good points especially when you stated the intended audience. That will also lead us to the relevance of the study. If one is trying to solve the problem targeting youths, it is important to pick the right participants that will be a representation of the entire youth population. Before research is declared valid, there should be parameters that ought to be checked to ensure it is consistent.
3. Great job on your post, you are off to a wonderful start. I enjoyed the example in your response on using research methods to reduce spending. In some of the pass classes I have read some research journals and question the purpose and relevance. Has this happen to you in any classes? I read the journal article you choose, and I found it to be very informative. Once again, good job on your post and I’m looking forward to reading more of your work
4. Cost-effectiveness analysis is a way to examine both the costs and health outcomes of one or more interventions. It compares an intervention to another intervention (or the status quo) by estimating how much it costs to gain a unit of a health outcome, like a life year gained or a death prevented. In the field of health, a cost–effectiveness ratio usually represents the amount of additional health gained for each additional unit of resources spent. A cost–effectiveness threshold is generally set so that the interventions that appear to be relatively good or very good value for money can be identified. The cost-effectiveness acceptability curve (CEAC) is an intuitive graphical method of summarizing information on uncertainty in cost-effectiveness estimates. The CEAC is straightforward to construct and interpret, which is why it is increasingly becoming a part of economic evaluations for decision makers.
5. y professional goals are to work with children with developmental disabilities in some capacity. I originally started my career working with children in childcare and later with school-aged children for the school district. I have been a teacher's aide for the last 15 years and wanted to become a teacher so I started attending GCU in 2018. Ultimately, I want to work with children who have moderate to severe disabilities. My favorite people are those who have Downs Syndrome because they are so cute and smart. I want to start my career in a classroom but end it with owning my own facility to run a day program. As I prepare to receive my degree, I have been looking at different websites on careers with a BS in Psychology just to broaden my perspectives. I would love to relocate and go to a different state. I was reading an article on Goal-Setting. Some of the points made in this article talked about setting short and long-term goals. For short-term outcomes, extrinsic goals are related to professional identification. Long-term outcomes goals quality is not related to extrinsic and intrinsic.
6. As you think about your future and where you would like to be-- what research have you done on your proposed career field and/or on continued study? Why is this of interest to you? Do you know someone who has gone into this field? And if you are looking into a particular field-- beyond the entry level job-- what is your ultimate career goal?
