Sculpture (Discussion)

When I think of using re-purposed materials for artwork I don't think of the work Gravity and Grace. Instead I think of salvage yards and flea markets. In addition to being a hotbed of materials and junk its a place full of opportunity and that's where re-purposed materials shine.  The biggest benefit reused materials produce is an extreme cost in savings. Whether it be saving the environment by reducing the energy used in creating a new product or by saving your wallet a few extra dollars by buying "junk." The beauty of recycled materials finding new homes in artwork is that they don't take the focal point of the work. Many artists change the way a typical sculpture is seen by simply using old materials to produce their version of the same statue.

The way I see myself incorporating re-purposed materials in sculptures is by using practical pieces using everyday normal goods. In the picture I attached I show off the brilliance of some artists to use broken items and re-purpose them to ensure the product lives on through a different form. Link
