   50 points

Introduction – 10 pts.

Part 1: Reflects on own culture and how the cultural arts have affected understanding of self and others  (10 pts. each)

From your reflection share thoughts on planning an early childhood creative arts program which answers these questions:

1.           How has your own creativity been enhanced as a result of learning about your culture and the culture of others?

2.           How can you make sure the young children you work with remain connected to their own culture?

3.           What creative opportunities can you provide for young children to assure they can participate in your program as well as develop an understanding of the cultures of those in their class?

4.           How will you involve families to support your effort in the classroom as well as in the home?

Part 2: Describes three preferred activities (one each for art, music, and dance) that best represent the individual need of a culturally diverse and mixed-age background. (15 pts. each)

Each description should include:

         An explanation of the activity with examples of how it can be used in a culturally diverse and mixed-age environment

         A rationale for the importance of the activity in regard to helping children reach their creative potential in expression

         Research to support the developmental appropriateness and pedagogical significance of the activity (minimum of two quotes/citations)

Concluding paragraph – 5 pts.

   30 points

Body of paper is 3–4 pages. Grammar and spelling is correct.  Writing is clear, concise, and follows a logical pattern. The APA Format is used and includes in-text citations as well as the separate reference and title pages. Text and 3 additional sources to validate writing.
