Interviewer: Hello,
I hope this note finds you well.
As you know, I am in the Walden PhD program. As part of my coursework, I’m practicing the skills I need to develop and conduct qualitative research interviews. I’m seeking friends and family members that could participate as “interviewees” for one of my course assignments. Would you be interested in assisting?
The practice will include completing an Informed Consent statement (I’ll e-mail this to you); and allowing me to [e-mail you a list of questions/interview by phone or in person]. The whole process should take no more than 90 minutes of your time.
Please let me know if you would like to participate. The course has deadlines, so we’ll need to begin the process by [10/18/2021], and finish the interview by [10/22/2021].

1. What are your beliefs in regard to mental health? Why do you think so?
2. When was the last time you had a mental illness? What does this remind you of?
3. How would you cope with mental sicknesses when faced by one? Why do you think this is the most appropriate way?
4. Tell me about a former experience in hospital when seeking mental health help. What impact did it have on you?
5. What support do you need in order to enhance your mental health?
6. A happy mind, a happy life. How would you describe your mental health to be?

Participant: Hello Jamiah,
1. What are your beliefs in regard to mental health? Why do you think so?
My beliefs in regards to mental health is that it is very much real. I believe this because I work in the psychology field.
2. When was the last time when you had a mental illness? What does this remind you of?
The last time I felt I experienced mental illness was when I had my first child, I had postpartum. That reminded me of a time when I felt lost and confused.
3. How would you cope with mental sicknesses when faced by one? Why do you think this is the most appropriate way?
I would cope with mental health by doing the exercises that my last therapist introduced to me, to help me overcome my postpartum. I believe this is the most effective way because last time it seemed to really help me.
4. Tell me about former experience in hospital when seeking for mental health help. What impact did it have on you?
I never went to a hospital but I did go see a therapist. This helped me to understand
why I felt so differently after having a child, it helped me to realize that I wasn’t the only one who went through postpartum after having a child.
5. What support do you need in order to enhance your mental health?
The support I would need is positive energy and making time for myself outside of family and work.
6. A happy mind, a happy life. How would you describe your mental health?
To me this statement means if you let go of all negative energy and things then your life would be less stressful. Today, I feel at peace with my mental health.

My beliefs in regards to mental health is that it definitely exists in all communities. I believe it exists because many people are becoming depressed and suicidal.
2. When was the last time when you had a mental illness? What does this remind you of?
The last time I felt I experienced mental illness was about 2 years ago when I started bootcamp. This reminds me of a time when I felt lost.
3. How would you cope with mental sicknesses when faced by one? Why do you think this is the most appropriate way?
I would cope with mental health by speaking to a therapist. I believe this is the most appropriate way because last time a therapist helped me with my mental health.
4. Tell me about former experience in hospital when seeking for mental health help. What impact did it have on you?
I never went to a hospital but I did go see a therapist. This helped me to understand why certain things were happening in my life and how to cope with it properly. It changed my life.
5. What support do you need in order to enhance your mental health?
I need positive people and energy around me.
6. A happy mind, a happy life. How would you describe your mental health?
To me this statement means if you surround yourself with positive energy you will live peacefully. Today, my mental health is in a great place
