Cognitive Bias Reflection Discussion Board 6 6
Each of the questions below is designed to help you think about what to write, but you may organize the essay however you see fit. The most important thing is to fully explain your answers with details. Explain the “why” or “how” for each question. Each claim should be explained. No vague responses. No “yes” or “no” answers. The result should be a detailed description of your thought process, and a clear evaluation of its effectiveness.
You have learned a good deal this semester about flawed logic, faulty claims, logical fallacies, and bias. It's easy to criticize others; it's easy to identify other people's flawed logic. This writing assignment is a reflection. You should think about your own thought process.
In a five-paragraph response, discuss the five most interesting facts you learned about your own flawed logic. What have you learned about your own bias? What logical fallacies have you committed in the past? How has your own thought process at times been flawed? What faulty claims have you argued? What "facts" have you clung to that have proven to be wrong? At what times have your bias prevented you from seeing the truth?
Write at least five, fully developed, MEAL Plan paragraphs to fully address this prompt.
Your goal is to write an honest reflection on your thought process. Don’t be too critical of yourself; we all have flawed logic and personal bias that pollute our judgments. However, be critical and be reflective.
Another goal for this essay is to prove you have retained the information presented in course readings and videos this semester. Use what you have learned about logic to write your essay. Prove you have learned about logic and reasoning in this essay.

Formatting Requirements: Please compose your answers in a Word document first so you will not lose your work. Too often, students compose in the discussion board thread for the first time, and too often, a snag online causes lost work. Instead, draft first in a Word document and THEN copy and paste your ideas into the thread. You should NOT attach your response.
Due 12/05: Your original post of at least five paragraphs. Don't worry as much about the word count as developing five solid paragraphs.
Due 12/06: A 150-word response to four classmates' posts. Four responses - all at least 150 words - are required.
