Managing Organizational Teams

Teams need to have a direct contact with their leaders as well as team patrons. This ensures that the teams are focused and aim towards ensuring that they are as productive as possible. Teams have to be motivated in ensuring that they become productivity. Motivating teams means that they are likely to put in all their energies in ensuring that the objectives as well as goals for which they have been formed have been realized. This has been very significant in enhancing productivity in organizations with the productivity in companies deemed to be significant particularly with an advanced system of motivation, training and development (Erbe, 2014). There are several conditions that need to be in place for various teams to be said to have excelled.

First, the teams need to be presented with the necessary support in terms of resources. When the teams have been presented with adequate resources, they are likely to excel at all the factors will thus be channeled towards ensuring that the objective for which the team was formed has been achieved. Additionally, there is a need for encouragement of communication in a more unilateral manner within teams. Through communication, teams will be in a position of addressing issues that they are facing in the process. For teams to excel, there has to be a chain of command in teams. This means that there will be a set of predetermined protocol that will help in leading the teams even as they undertake some of the objectives for which they have been instituted (Erbe, 2014).

Teamwork could be designed in a more detailed manner such that the threat to performance has been minimized. Each member of the group needs to be assigned some of the work that they need to do and the period they are required to complete these tasks. This will ensure that even if the team is working as one, they are personally accountable (Tosi & Pilati, 2011). This is because there are some employees who take advantage of the team approach in avoiding work which therefore makes them not to perform to their full potential. As a manager, I would reward teamwork by recognizing the teams whenever they demonstrate and exemplary performance especially one that leads to the uplifting of the position of the organization. Giving the team medals such as those of the “Team of the Year Award” will most likely motivate the team to even work more which therefore will tend to boost their morale as well as ensure that their self-esteem is boosted significantly.
