BA Week 6 paper
Teenagers are the audience of focus in this community education program because they are highly affected by marijuana use in my community. The educational program is directed toward creating awareness on the risks or exposure to cannabis use, the adverse effects, and how they can be avoided. As per the Fischer (2018) report, there are more than 22 million Americans of ages 12 years or more who are using cannabis. In addition, the everyday use of cannabis has increased lately for college students, and this has increased by 3.5 from 2007 to 4.6 percent in 2015. This, accordingly, infers that there is one in every 22 school students who are using cannabis every day. The number of overdoses that are caused by the gate way drugs like cannabis, has caused a pandemic in the hospital system. In this manner, the issue is turning into a significant public healthcare concern since it increases the risks of school failure, poor coordination, focus, and response time (Hamilton et al., 2019).
The two measurable behavior objectives are 1) by the end of the 6-month educational program, 70% of the enrolled teenagers to know the biological, environmental, behavioral, and social causes and consequences of marijuana, and 2) to achieve 100% recovery from marijuana addicts and maintain a meaningful and sustained recovery within 1 year. Therefore, my relationship with the targeted audience is to consider them as clients at risk of health complications associated with marijuana use. Consequently, I am responsible for creating awareness by educating the teenagers on the risks of exposure to such behaviors, the impacts of marijuana use on their health, and the possible ways of preventing exposure to marijuana use. These objectives are ranked at the knowledge dimension of the domains of Bloom's taxonomy because the grater concerted efforts are made to enlighten the society about marijuana, the more the society and cannabis industry advance in building intel resolutions in fighting the problem (Fischer, 2018).
