Third assignment
Third Short Assignment
How have the new communication technologies changed COMMUNICATION IN THE FAMILY?
Choose an individual who lived part of their adult life BEFORE the widespread use of the computer and cell phone (that is, the cell phone, before and including the smart phone). Interview that person about different ways in which COMMUNICATION IN THEIR FAMILY was different BEFORE they had a computer and/or cell phone, and how it changed once they got them. Plan your questions carefully to get at his/her perceptions of how different affordances of the computer and cell phone have affected communication in their family.
Write a 2-page paper (typed) in which you apply the information you get from your interviewee to some issues and concepts raised in chapter 7 in the textbook on “Media” AND chapter 9 on “Relationships”. (That is, DO NOT simply report your interview!) Please use proper citation format when referring to the textbook.
Remember to record your interview, or take notes on it.
