Social work is diverse and unique depending on how the social worker views certain aspects of their work mechanism. One of the essential requirements of social workers is to ensure that their clients get the best services that provide that they recover from whatever challenge or trouble that may bring them social or life problems. In addition, it gives the social workers the perfect mode of enabling strategy within their duty. Therefore, a model called the Generalist Model was developed. What is the generalist model? According to Scarnato (2019), the generalist model refers to a practical approach that helps social workers identify potential stresses and other disruptions to the client's system. It is a working mechanism that gives the social workers the ability to know and choose which approach is necessary and befitting towards helping and supporting a client.

According to Silverman (2015), the tenets of the generalist model are always to ensure competency towards the actions undertaken by the social workers. For example, the model provides a framework by which the social workers gauge their success and progress on the various clients they deal with. Through the necessity to have a system of competency-based gauging mechanisms, the generalist model is the only best benchmark by which social workers can guarantee the value of their services. This model became the operational model in social work because of various aspects that bit gives to the social workers. For example, it provides for an engagement forum between the social worker and the client. Second, it allows for a proper assessment of the client's situation. Third, it gives a platform where it becomes easier to plan for what the client may need, and it provides for the implementation of the discussed strategies. Finally, it provides a forum whereby the social worker can evaluate their work with the client. Carey and McCardle (2011) highlight that this model is necessary because, with a conventional approach to fieldwork, much learning may be assumed, such as acquiring fundamental critical and reflective thinking abilities. Farley et al. (2012) further highlight that the necessity for this model is provided by the various challenges of other traditional approaches. This aspect is because Social work has, from the beginning, included a great deal of direct practice, group work, and community organizing. Administration and research support this, helping it become possible. The integrated method includes various procedures woven together to help establish a comprehensive vision and emphasis, both for individual and group behavior. Therefore, generalists must grasp the administrative process and the many resources and mechanisms that support it. Generalist practice seeks to attain a more profound knowledge of human behavior, especially in social relationships and the urgent need for additional scientific investigation. For social workers, getting a firm grasp of current research and reading and analyzing research reports is once again a need.

The generalist model also provides the social workers with certain advantages. The first advantage is that it can be tailored to local needs. This aspect refers to the needs of the different clients at ago. For example, a social worker specializing in the clients' psychology will have a platform to deal with the clients' different psychological needs and other extra needs, such as looking into their domestic state and how it relates to their psychotic challenges. The second advantage is that it can be made directly available to neighborhood organizers and also residents. That is to say; the generalist model provides a framework by which the social work can extend some of the services meted out to the clients even to other players that are close to the latter. For example, a client suffering from psychotic issues will need to understand that one way of overcoming the problems is by understanding the issues at hand with those close to them, such as relatives and friends. The third advantage is that it allows for skill-building and provides a potential for community-based employment. The generalist model provides a framework by which the client can get the excellent skills to overcome their challenges and engage in certain beneficial ventures that promotes societal expectations. Comment by Angela Bullock: You did well with providing a lot of salient information in this section; however, it appears that the information was not cited. Ensure that you provide information from scholarly works that support the key points made.

Moreover, the model also has certain disadvantages. The first disadvantage is that there can be cooperation challenges with different workers. This aspect entails that the clients can get confused while dealing with varying cadres of social workers. The second disadvantage is that for service to be considered quality, there must be cooperation with different social workers. This aspect implies that for good and quality service to be attained, there needs to be a mechanism whereby additional social workers cooperate.
