The Flow of Creativity

What is Flow?

Complete absorption and involvement in a task that leads to optimal performance (Csikszentmihaly, 2014).

Flow was conceptualized as Csikzentmihaly observed artists completely immersed in their activities (Csikszentmihalyi, 2014)

The Building Blocks of the Flow Experience

There are clear goals every step of the way

There is immediate feedback to one’s actions

There is a balance between challenges and skills

Flow suggested to have positive effects on mood and wellbeing

Flow linked to more “exploratory behaviour” and ”perceived, expected creativity
