There has been a movement in recent years to require citizens to present identification—usually photo identification—before they can cast a ballot. Last year, Missouri voters amended the state constitution to require voter ID. A good summary can be found here: https://www.sos.mo.gov/showit2vote Proponents say identification is necessary to present voter fraud. Opponents say there is no voter fraud and that ID measures are designed to disenfranchise certain voting blocks, namely people who tend to vote for Democratic candidates. The issue is also political, with President Obama quoted as saying “We’re the only advanced democracy in the world that makes it harder for people to vote” and President Trump claiming that the only reason he lost the popular vote is due to illegal voting, primarily in California. What side are you on? If you favor voter ID, how do you make it fair for someone to obtain an ID? Note that courts have struck down several voter ID laws because the requirement to obtain an ID is too burdensome. If you oppose voter ID, what would you do to prevent voter fraud. For both sides, is voter fraud even a problem? Remember that opinions are good, but opinions backed by facts and supported by outside sources, examples, etc. are better.
