Based on the scenario, apply the Total Product Concept to the Ecosa mattress product. In your explanation, you must discuss the degree of “newness”, justify whether the product is a continuous, dynamically continuous, or discontinuous innovation, and justify which consumer product type the Ecosa mattress product is considered to be.
Based on the scenario, discuss how Ecosa can apply each of the four common approaches to pricing to the Ecosa mattress product. In your explanation, you must justify which of the four pricing approaches is appropriate, discuss two potential pricing constraints for the product, and justify which pricing tactic Ecosa should use for the mattress product.
How to study
Make your own set of summary notes (I like to limit myself to 1-page of 2-page notes) for each week’s content/topics
These notes should combine the key points from the plenaries, tutorials, and readings
Use these as quick reference guides—i.e., you should still study beforehand!
Have your plenary and tutorial slides, personal notes, and readings handy just in case, but you shouldn’t need them because of your condensed notes (per point above)
Take product of your choice and apply the concepts we’ve learnt in class as practice
Practice writing paragraphs
Practice writing an essay with a proper introduction and conclusion
What to study
Open-book test so you can have your learning materials with you
Focus on the plenary materials (readings are not specifically covered, however you may use them to demonstrate more depth)
Testing content from weeks 1-6
Essay writing required but no secondary research, just APA referencing of citations of the textbook and/or readings that you use as sources of information
Understanding, application, and justification > description of concepts
Need me to be more specific?
Focus on being able to APPLY the concepts to a scenario and JUSTIFY a choice
Do NOT regurgitate the plenary content or readings, you will not be awarded marks for that
Explain and define concepts in your own words
Topics to focus on:
| Question 1 - PRODUCT | Question 2 – PRICE AND DISTRIBUTION |
| Degree of “newness” Total Product Concept Consumer product types | Common pricing approaches Distribution strategies |

Take note of the task words in the questions
Explain
Make an idea clear by describing it in detail using supporting evidence from the scenario to illustrate your description.
Justify
Show or prove one side of an argument to be true. Does not require a discussion of both sides of the argument. Only identify the side you support and express why that side is correct using supporting evidence from the scenario.
Discuss
Write about a topic in detail, incorporating important issues within that topic using supportive evidence.

Be analytical
Description “what?”
Expressing what is being said, done, happening, etc.
Analysis “so what?”
Expressing why what is said, done, happening, etc. is important, and how it relates to the question posed.
You need to answer both “what?” and “so what?”
Structuring the introduction
