EHR SYSTEMS

The move to the implementation and integration of more health systems has become popular as it portrays many advantages in the healthcare industry. Good EHR systems enhance the quality of healthcare, increase the level of efficiency, and enhance patients’ outcome as well as increasing effectiveness of healthcare (Vanderhook & Abraham, 2017, June). However, this implementation is associated with a huger cost that has to be covered by the healthcare facility. For instance, this scenario states that a situation analysis ought to be conducted which will require a wide array of resources. The maintenance of the EHR system will also incur some costs. UCCO is currently facing financial challenges and a new EHR system might be too expensive to implement and maintain.

To ensure successful implementation and effective running of the EHR system, there is requirement for appropriate financial planning (Vanderhook & Abraham, 2017, June). In this caser, financial planning entails a good review and analysis of all costs to be incurred throughout the process as well as budgeting for alternative sources of funding for the program. In this case, a government funding is the most appropriate.

Electronic health record systems (EHR) are systems used by hospitals to store information regarding patients’ health information, scheduled visits, online hospital services and direct online communication to patients. EHR systems are also useful in running administrative duties for the healthcare institution including insurance reimbursements, billing and general reporting (Sreenivasan & Chacko, 2021). These systems allow patients and doctors to easily share information hence ease of consultation and treatment. A HER system gives the patient control over the treatment process such that he can still use the same medical data in any healthcare facility he visits. They include R & D metrics and eclinical works.

EClinical works is the best EHR system that will be fit for implementation as it best fits the EHR general objectives. The main goal of an EHR is to ensure efficient recording and storage of medical records (Sreenivasan & Chacko, 2021). The eclinical works will ensure efficient storage and access of medical data. This is because it is modern and synchronized to modern technology. Its set back is that it will incur costs training staff on how to use it.

The tab le below is a summary of the SWOT analysis of the EHR system.

External influences include the opportunities and threats of the EHR system.

Opportunities

Threats

Human and business motivation to participate in the programs.

Technical issues in data analysis from the modernized systems.

Advancement on technology in all sectors.

Loss of data to online cybercrimes.

Internal influences include the strengths and weaknesses of the EHR system.

Strengths

Weaknesses

Improved healthcare.

Malpractice liability.

Convenience and efficiency of services.

Cost and time ineffective.
