Tableau Project

The project for this module is the Make Over Monday Project. You will choose a dataset

from make Over Monday web page, clean.

and analyze the data set. Then, you will do a hands-on strategic analysis to the data set

you have chosen and create a dashboard and a storyboard to present your findings.

Makeover Monday is a super fun data visualization challenge. For this project, you will

first choose a project, clean the data for the project and come up with questions to tell a

story about the dataset you have chosen for the project. Then, you will analyze and

construct charts to answer the questions you come up with. These charts, then be used

to create a dashboard and a story board.

write a short paper on the data visualization process by addressing the following questions:

• How was the data imported and analyzed?

• What challenges did you run into as you conducted your analysis?

• How did you identify key patterns or outliers?

• How did you decide on the chart type for each question?

• What is the purpose of your story and what do you want your viewer’s journey to be?

For this project, you will create a dashboard and a voice over video on your story board

for your project. You will create the final deliverables to present your story. You will be

presenting your findings in a multi-slide Story Points presentation to your peers by

making a short 3–5-minute video and submitting your Tableau workbook that consists of

your charts, dashboard and the story.

1. Choose a project, clean the data and identify the questions and charts your story

will answer.

2. Construct effective data visuals using aggregate functions, calculated fields,

parameters, and table calculations. (To complete this section successfully, you must

perform the following critical elements:

A. Use one of the following in one of your charts: aggregate functions, calculated fields.

B. Use one of the following in one of your charts: parameters, table calculations.

C. Use Gestalt principles to make your visuals more effective.

D. Use preattentive attributes and traditional design concepts to create effective visuals.

3. Create a dashboard with at least 5 charts.

4. Create the final deliverable (story) to present your analysis to your peers.

The objective of this section is to create a story consisting of at least 3 story

points,

5. Make a voice over video on your story board.
