Negative Impact of Technology on People’s Skills
In the article," So Much Information, So Little Time,” the author states that despite the huge benefits of technology, it has a negative impact on people’s lives in terms of their intellectual skills and social interaction abilities. He explains that ready and easy to acquire information is one of these benefits since people can reach a large spectrum of information easily rather than going to the library to look for certain books. On other hand the author warns that with all of this luxury, people may feel tired when they come up with a lot of sources on a search-engine that need to be read, so as consequence their intellectual skills may decline. He goes on to say in regards to social interaction, technology was established to enhance social communication between people since they can easily contact each other. Unexpectedly, as the purpose of this technology is for enhancing social skills, it may also participate in deteriorating the social interaction in terms of decreasing face to face communication. The author concludes the article by stating that people who depend on this modern technology should notice which skills could decrease or increase and make a decision depending on that. I think that the author’s opinion matches my opinion about the negative impact technology has on critical-thinking skills and social interaction.
