Success of knowledge Management Systems

Abstract

Historically, information systems have focused on capturing, storing, managing, and reporting explicit knowledge of the network architecture. This information has primarily been delivered over the serial line, but in the 21st century, this approach is beginning to give way to what are widely perceived as more agile and distributed data management models, including the use of networked databases and data warehousing platforms. As a result, both the need for explicit knowledge management of network structure and the value of data are increasingly recognized. In addition, data storage and retrieval in the cloud, as discussed in the previous section, is starting to be widely implemented in both data center and data center-based cloud-based services, such as SDN, which enables efficient interconnecting of devices, software, and resources across physical, logical, and virtualized systems. For instance, the dynamic provisioning of resources through dynamic provisioning capabilities in the cloud is changing the business model of heterogeneous computing.

Introduction

In turn, this has resulted in new models of information systems that address how to transform “dumb” knowledge to smart knowledge in the data warehouse, including: Organizations have realized that the new “model” of information systems requires an extensive transformation of the way they manage their data. More than three decades of effort, organizations have adopted information systems that have become so complex that it is nearly impossible to manage them. Organizations have spent hundreds of billions of dollars to improve information systems. New techniques in networking, web sites, databases, and other data storage products have given organizations far more flexibility in managing, analyzing, and responding to information. This flexibility has allowed organizations to compete effectively in a global marketplace. But most organizations have never been successful in designing and implementing successful information systems (Gunjal, 2019). 

Problem Statement

Knowledge management contributes to the overall problem of making information, and its usage, both available and usable. Organizations that value their employees and that treat all employees as if they are integral and valuable resources are more likely to realize value in the creation of their knowledge and its dissemination. The definition of knowledge and knowledge management is not perfect; its shortcomings and inconsistencies are inevitable. The problem of organizational knowledge and management requires some adjustment. The process of knowledge management starts with a good definition of the activities that are needed for a well-informed project (Gunjal, 2019). 

Relevance and Significance

Knowledge management is important because it boosts the efficiency of an organization's decision-making ability to answer the question, “Is the product right for the cost” Similarly, “knowledge management helps assure that organizational decisions are not made on a basis of “business reasons” and not based on personal considerations”. In short, “knowledge management” means ensuring that information on current processes is readily accessible and useful to decision-makers. A number of organizations provide expertise management, or knowledge management, programs with a number of modules that include a curriculum for business development, a strategic planning or consulting environment, and other skills specific to the particular function.  However, the advent of advanced computing has created a need for computers to process complex scenarios (Hwang, 2018).

As computers have become capable of executing tasks that would have been impossible using traditional computing methods, computing in general has moved toward systems that extract information from the data and perform computing on it. The importance of operations management problems is that they give you a useful framework through which you may begin thinking about security. Although it is important to understand how the various layers relate to one another, understanding how the layers relate also helps in identifying opportunities for security vulnerabilities in your system, your environment, or the applications you control. Operations management problems can also provide a perspective on the type of system you have (Al-Emran, 2018). 

Research Questions

Although the problem of knowledge management is in the centre of attention, the task of knowledge management is more widely distributed in various disciplines, and knowledge can be obtained at the level of ‘small-scale, incremental, unsupervised and supervised’ methods, and even across different disciplines. Small-scale methods to create knowledge are based on the following characteristics. Small-scale methods usually have minimal cost associated with their use. They are typically very simple and require little supervision. As a consequence, they are not always able to follow all instructions. They are, however, sometimes able to make good decisions by recognizing when their behavior indicates the presence of other processes.
