Criteria 1 Introduction: The introduction does not present the people in the scenario or the scenario itself. A proper introduction mentions the individuals in the scenario and a synopsis of the situation. Your introduction is completely broad and does not mention the Tutoring University (TU), Lee or Jenkins, the code of conduct, Tracy's concern, the new entrants or any of the theorists that will be used to analyze the dilemmas. Criteria 2 Ethical Dilemmas: You identified two situations as ethical dilemmas, but only one is a valid ethical dilemma. In the first dilemma the marketing tagline is not really the issue. The issue is the changing of the company policies that violated the original code of conduct. This caused the dilemma of sacrificing the honesty and integrity of the company or staying with the ethical code of conduct guidelines. This was Lee's decision to compete against the unethical new entrants into the marketplace. The selling of papers to other students to pass off as their own does not create an ethical dilemma in itself. The tutors that would be doing the work would face the dilemma of abiding by the original code of conduct and preserving their integrity or following the new company policies that would allow them to earn a lot of money, but would destroy their integrity. They are faced with a conflict of loyalty as described in Chapter 2 Sayor Business Ethics in week #2's course readings. Role the “Code of Conduct”: The code of conduct did not create the ethical dilemma. The code of conduct was and is good. The changing of the company's policies by Lee and Jenkins is what has caused the ethical dilemma. Ethical Issue/Dilemma Category: Only one valid ethical dilemma is identified and that is a result of changing the company's policies in violation of the code of ethics. The ethical dilemmas are not categorized as required by the assignment instructions. Criteria 3 State dilemmas and apply to theorists: The ethical dilemmas are not stated in question form as required by the assignment instructions. They were, however, applied to the ethical theories of Kant, Rand and Bentham and are supported by references. Criteria 4 Compare results and select one theorist who would best solve dilemmas.: One ethical theorist, Kant, was selected as the best one to solve both of the ethical dilemmas stated. Criteria 5 Attention to Instructions: The assignment instructions expressly prohibit the use of books as references. All three of your references are books. Criteria 6 Writing Mechanics: Around 10 errors in writing mechanics were found in your paper. A copy of your paper with comments is added to your evaluation. Criteria 7 Adherence to APA (6th ed.): If you are going to state that something is illegal in your paper you need to provide a reference that supports that statement. Copyrights are not violated if the work has not been registered. |
