STATUS REPORT

The project is on development of a hotel reservation system which will manage activities around reservations booking in hotel set up. The project is currently in the development stage. Requirements have been collected and analyzed and system design done. The project team already has a project prototype of how each of the system’s module will look like. Developers have been taken through the prototypes and have a visual idea on what to develop. The objective of the status is to outline what’s to be undertaken over the week, giving each member of the project team idea on how the project is fairing.

Project tasks planned for the week

· Building of administrator module. This module should consist user management and reports sub modules.

· Development of customer module, this module should allow a user to sign up/sign in using a username and password.

· Building of employee/support module. This module has employee functions.

· Building hotel and room management module.

Project tasks accomplished this week

· Development of all functions under customer module.

· Building of support module to completion.

· Building of hotel and room management modules addition, modification and deletion of rooms.

Project Issues:

· Type of reports to be accessed by the administrator. It was not clear to the developers which kind of reports the administrator module should have access to. Setting up a database of the same took longer than earlier planned. The developers through project manager to engage the database administrator to give a view on the various database tables available and how they can be linked to the reports sub module to enable reports generation.

· How to change rooms pricing wasn’t very clear to the developers. A session with the hotel manager clarified the parameters to consider while changing rooms pricing and category.

· Complete developing reports sub module under the administrator module.

· Build the remaining part of hotel and room management module.

· Development services and amenities management module.

· Build reports module

· Build authentication and security module.

· Undertake quality assurance testing on customer module, user management sub module under administrator module and support module.
