What I can see from my progress that my understanding to my topic become more narrowed and more absorbed to the main point of my interest; which is family-teachers relationship. family and school relationships are a critical aspect that can affect special needs preschoolers’ expectations.

During this semester I was taking this course to manage my thinking and organize my ideas about my topic. During the semester I start to learn how to how to narrow my ideas and find a specific way to say these ideas. Dissertation preparation class was the beginning of collecting more articles related to the methodology that I'm going to use, and more synthesizing to my throats and the resources that I have. Working on the assignment of methodology literature review was a great start for my dissertation preparation and committee meeting.

I started my methodology literature review with narrowing what is the more suitable theories and models that I can use with my topic. I'm interested in the relationship between family and teachers at the same time and how that collaboration could reflect on the student success and engagement. This assignment let me start to work on the ideas that I have and trying to listen to other students while they express their understanding and their chosen theories and how I can connect it to my topic. I learned a lot about the theories and the designs that I want to use with my dissertation. Exploring the theories and how to connect it special education field was an important factor that direct my search.

What I discovered that some special education researches are relaying on the models more than theories, like in my case I’m interested in Epstein model and also in Turnbull family systems theory. I can say that my knowledge is shifted into more advance prospective, just by reading more in my topic and focus more in my area of interest. Also, having some of the experts in the college was an amazing addition to my journey this semester, we learned from their experience and we had the chance to ask them about their advice.
