Google Incorporation

Google is a large organization with many products such as YouTube, Google search, and the Google cloud platform. Therefore, google corporation handles a lot of data that can present several data analytics opportunities the organization can utilize further to expand its dominance in the American and global economy. This article will elaborate on data analytics opportunities and remedies that Google incorporation can implement to improve its operations.

Prompt 1 Exploring the Vision

Identify up to 3 possible optimization opportunities in data analytics relevant to your chosen organization. In your response be sure to:

· Describe the optimization issues clearly.

· Explain the proposed opportunity or remedy for each issue.

· Provide sufficient context for each issue and opportunity.

One opportunity that Google incorporation can use is the development of advisory operations for their users when using specific applications for an extended period or inappropriately. For example, Google has digital wellbeing that its users have installed on their devices to trace the uses of various applications. Using ModelDB or other related machine learning tracking software, Google can develop a model upon which it can advise the user and caution them against further using certain applications and websites (Vartak et al., 2016). The model should be developed such as it can warn an employee when using social media for an extended period during working hours. This would be helpful to both the organization and its clients.

Another opportunity google can use data analytics to improve its users' lives and profits are by using data analytics to create safety alerts (Zhang et al., 2018). For example, Google should work with the local authorities in various counties to create an alert for its user when they have an incident. This would require the development of software that is free to download and use. The software would integrate with another google platform such as google earth and issue alerts to the user when there is an incident within their vicinity. This would make google a secure promotion software and a form of corporate social responsibility.

Another opportunity for YouTube is to use its data analytics to create relevant advertisements for specific users based on their search. Most YouTube advertisements are general and target individuals based on their location. However, Google should develop advertisements based on a user's search for the content. For example, if a user is searching for music most of the time on YouTube, they should be given music-related advertisements. This avoids breaking the cognitive rhythm when watching a particular set of content.

Prompt 2 – Developing the Vision

For each opportunity you identified, make connections to Figure 1.1, “The Work of Leaders Overview,” in Ch. 1 of The Work of Leaders. Use the questions below to guide your response.

· How will you demonstrate open-mindedness as you develop your vision?

· How will you prioritize the “Big Picture” of your vision?

· How will your solutions embody boldness?

Developing a vision is a trial-and-error process, where leaders must broaden the scope of the team's options and look beyond the current situation. Therefore, leaders must exhibit open-mindedness and boldness and prioritize the big picture (Straw et al., 2013). As the team leader in charge, I must become pragmatic in developing new ideas for Google corporation to achieve the desired goals. For example, in developing the advisory operation to alert users when they are using a particular software application or website at the wrong time, one of the factors that I should keep in mind is that users will not always heed the caution of the application. This is possible, especially for those not ready to let go of their habits. However, having this concept in mind, it is crucial that when we are developing these Google services, there is a possibility of pushback, especially by social media companies that would feel that we are negatively impacting their business. However, as a leader, I must show boldness and adequately sensitize the public and the team on the big picture of helping our Google product users from becoming slaves to specific applications and websites.

In google alerts for public safety, a factor to keep in mind is that the local authority may reluctantly provide the information for raising an alert. Therefore, as the team leader, I would be required to nurture and develop a good working relationship with the local authorities and have them access our operations to build trust and cooperation. This would need boldness to convince the managing director of Google corporation to accept the local authorities to access google systems. However, maintaining a big picture of public safety will likely lure all stakeholders into accepting the cooperation.

In using data analytics to develop an advertisement that targets users based on the context of the video they search; companies' reluctance may hinder achieving these services. For example, a company like Coca-Cola develops an advertisement that targets all gender and all classes. Therefore, they may be reluctant to create an ad targeting specific groups such as NBA fans. However, studies have indicated that targeted advertisements are twice as effective as non-targeted ones (Farahat & Bailey, 2012). Therefore, drawing the big picture to the client companies may prove to be bold in conveying them to investment in YouTube targets advertisements.

Prompt 3 – Desired Outcomes

Describe the intended result of implementing your vision for optimization of operations. Be sure to include legal and ethical considerations. Provide rationale for your response.

Google corporation is a public company that is own by shareholders who expect dividends payment to their investments. The intended outcome of implementing the users' advisory operation when using specific software and websites at an inappropriate time is to protect users from developing technology addiction. This is an ethical consideration for our users. Apart from moral benefits, the google corporation will also benefit from users downloading the free software in the apps store, increasing the company's profits from revenues paid by internet providers for producing content.

Developing a public alert on safety hazards when a google user is within the vicinity is an ethical consideration because corporate social responsibility is one of the values of Google corporation. Therefore, this would ensure that Google nurtures a good relationship with its customers and improves its reputation.

Developing targeted advertisements is an economic opportunity that Google can use data analytics to advise companies. Google should be able to advise companies on the type of advertisements they should create to target a particular group that searches for a specific set of YouTube videos. This would be a revenue stream for Google as more companies realized the benefits of targeted advertisements.

Prompt 4 – Leadership Competencies

Describe the leadership competencies necessary to align and execute this vision. Specify any particular milestones necessary for the plan.

As the team leader required to achieve these three new products that Google corporations want to develop and market in the global market, I must possess several leadership competencies. The leadership competency that I must have cognitive intelligence (Diskiene et al., 2019). This refers to the ability to think and analyze information and situations. This competency is crucial in monitoring the product development's progress of product development and advising the team and management on the right step to take. For example, using systems thinking skills, I will be able to conceptualize the product being developed and understand its impact on the organization and the public. This information would help lobby for whether to invest in developing new products.

Another crucial leadership competency that I must possess is social intelligence competency. This refers to recognizing, understanding, and using emotional information about others. Inspirational leadership is one of the skills used in this competency (Diskiene et al., 2019). This is crucial, especially when developing new processes which are likely to be accused of conflict of interest by other technology companies such as social media. However, having inspirational leadership skills, I would be able to bring all the stakeholders together and incentivize them to the bigger picture.

Prompt 5 – Theoretical/Conceptual Framework

Identify at least 1 relevant theory or concept that supports your vision. Be specific in your application of the theories/concepts. Remember to cite sources as needed.

Every profit-making organization, such as Google corporation, must continuously innovate to remain dominant in an ever-competitive global market economy. In a free-market economy such as the USA, organizations that have succeeded and existed for more than a century are those that innovate and develop new products. This vision of Google has been motivated by the innovation theory of profit which Joseph Alois Schumpeter coined. According to Schumpeter, the function of entrepreneurs is to develop, introduce innovation, and profit in the form of a reward for the product's performance in the market. All these products that my tea intends to develop our innovation would generate a new income stream for Google corporation while ensuring corporate social responsibilities are offered.

Google corporation is a technology company, and its mode of operation is based on the innovation theory of profit. Google is one of the few organizations in the New York stock exchange and the world with a market capitalization of more than one trillion dollars. Therefore, the new vision of developing these new products is in tandem with the theoretical framework upon which the Google corporation is based. Google corporation is a product of innovation and relatively new compared to companies such as Ford and General Electric. Therefore, it is evident that innovation can easily result in the developing a company that dominates the global market, such as the Google corporation.
