Statement of Work—Project Description andProject Product |
Our project is focused on building a green-conscious housing community called ECOmmunity. Our vision includes ten tiny-homes measuring 1000sqft with a number of energy-efficient upgrades, such as solar panels, rain-water collectors, insulated foundation slabs, and more. Our community will include a community garden where the residents will be able to grow their own fruits or vegetables, aiding in the eco-friendly environment. We intend on accomplishing this task by thoroughly researching each step involved throughout the project. We will start by procuring the necessary permits and contracts, ensuring that our project is within legal limits. We will find dedicated contractors and construction workers capable of building our dream. Once the community itself is built, together we will work on finding potential residents who are interested in living a eco-friendly lifestyle willing to care for the community. |

Project Deliverables |
We expect to see 10 houses that are livable and sturdy, meeting all the ecofriendly standards we have set. A community set up to be 50% self-sufficient in food production, water usage, recycling and energy efficiency.

Project Objectives |
The project is expected to cost $2,190,000.00. It is expected to be completed in a 2 year time period. The quality objectives are to have a community that people who are invested in preservation of our environment can be proud to live in. We would like to serve as an example for future similar projects, becoming the norm in community building. |
Project Assumptions |
There is a heightened awareness of environmental issues. Current and future home buying generations have taken a keen interest in environmental preservation. The options for ecofriendly living a few and most times costly. Providing an option that combines energy saving, sustainability and community into an inexpensive option will draw consumers to buy into the dream. |
Project Constraints |
There may be delays with various permit acquisitions. Design constraints may be a factor in terms of getting particular features to function exactly as designed versus practicality. Technical constraints regarding functionality of novel, less common energy efficiency features. |
Exclusions |
The community is not expected to be 100% self-sufficient in terms of energy. Utilities will still need to be sourced from local providers. Food will still need to be sourced from outside providers as well. The goal is for all functions to be energy efficient and sustainable with a long term goal for continued improvements in technology and processes that can make this easier. |
Acceptance Criteria |
At the end of the project, the community should meet basic housing occupation standards. The energy production should show a significant decrease when compared to other housing developments. There should be a significant reduction in energy footprint seen with residents in the community. The project should be reproducible with minimal constraints going forward. |
