Approach:

Step 1: Review the history of the companies and the industry within which they operate.

Step 2: Find each of the processes that affect the companies’ operations using Porter’s Value Chain model:

Be thorough in listing the processes that affect their operations, from both supplier’s and customer’s points of view. Discuss how current trends in policy, technology, environmental movement, globalization, innovations, and people’s attitude have shaped the industry and their business models.

1. Discuss company history and review the industry including key innovations and macro-environmental changes over the years.

2. Detailed analysis (w/ data) and discussions of the value-adding processes in the supply chain that include all members and activities. Explanations of the driving forces for the success of the companies. Reasons why their supply chain is unique/better.
