Name: Due Thursday, Sept 13.
The assignment could be done in a narrative format.
1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. (the heading is the math practice)
(i, ii, iii, iv are the 1, 2, 3, 4 components from the assignment directions you need to respond to for each math practice) (I have listed a potential way to answer or begin to answer the component.)
i. Tell why it is important for students to make sense of problems and persevere in solving
ii. When students are making sense of problems, they will be… and as they persevere in solving the problem they will… .
iii. Teachers could help student make sense of problems by… .
iv. As a teacher I could have students think about a problem they had and how they solved it. For example, I remember a child seeing a child who was learning to skate on rollerblades. The driveway sloped down from the street and he was having trouble going uphill when he was first learning, so he would crawl out to the end of the sidewalk then stand up and he would begin to roll down the slope. He kept doing this until he could first skate down the slope by moving his feet then eventually he was able to skate back out to the end of the driveway.
2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
