Part 1: Needs Statement, Goals and Objectives

Needs Statement

The needs statement should be about 2 pages, as the goals and objectives are 1-2 making this the 3-4 pages required of content. In the needs statement please first state what the problem is and then use lots of literature to discuss the problem. The literature needs to be scholarly and academic. Then, align your project or program and show ‘how’ this project will meet the needs that are currently missing. At the end please discuss the funder and their goals and show ‘how’ the funders goals align with the ‘need’ that you have discussed plus your ‘project’. You want to give lots of literature in this section and make it very clear how your program and the funder are going to address the needs in the literature.

Give a brief overview of what will be addressed in this section (1-2 pages in length).

Goal #1 – State clearly what the goal of the program is.

Objective 1 –You can have 1 or more objectives per EACH goal to show HOW that goal will be met.

Evaluation Criteria 1 – there needs to be an evaluation per EACH objective to show how this objective is being measured. **YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE ITS MEASURABLE AS THIS IS ALL OF YOUR PART 3 OF THE GRANT – THE EVALUATION.

Goal 4: Residents will work toward remaining sober.

Objectives 1 - Residents will attend individualized 3 times a week to address their triggers and areas of concern.

Objective 2 – Gain peer support to increase sobriety.

Objective 2 – sobriety needs to be increased over the first 3 months.

 Evaluation 1: Counseling sessions will be documented qualitatively and counseling will evaluate progress quantitatively.

Evaluation 2 – In the first 90 days residents will be assignment a Peer Support Speciality and will address a weekly survey on the support given.

Evaluation 3 – weekly and random breathlizers and drug testing. The information will be measured by frequency as well as the quantitative data on the tests.

I have also found a very good example of this below. Please pay particular attention to Example 3 as it has each goal aligned with a list of objectives. I hope this helps.
