Wireless Router Setup Manual

Instructions on how to connect your router and access the Internet.
Content in the Box?
Products items contained in the box are the following:
· 1- wireless router (NETGEAR)
· 1- AC power adapter
· 1- 25ft. yellow Ethernet cable
· Instruction Manual and Warranty form
· 1 - CD Setup disk
For missing, and or damaged parts to the router contact the NETGEAR service centers 1- 800 number listed in the back of the manual. Keep original packing materials for product return.
The Router Label
On the back of the router locate the router identification label. You will need it to identify the router for setup and registration.
· Serial number
· Port connectors
· Network Key (Password)
· Router Login
· WiFi Network Name (SSID)

The Ethernet cable is connected but the wireless router has not gotten an Internet address. The wireless router has an Internet address. Data is being communicated with the Internet. |

Indicates that the Wireless port is enabled. Traffic is being transmitted or received. Indicates that the Wireless port is disabled. |

The local port is connected to a 1000 Mbps device. Data is being transmitted at 1000 Mbps. The local port has detected a link with a 10/100 Mbps device. Data is being transmitted at 10/100 Mbps. No link is detected on this port. |

The back of the wireless router has the following port connections:
1. Default reset button
2. Four local area network (LAN) Ethernet ports
3. Internet port
4. Power adapter port
5. Wireless antenna
Preparations Before You Begin Setup
Confirm the following before setup and activation of equipment:
· Active Internet provider service connection
· Configuration information provided your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
— Host and Domain Names
— Internet Login Name and Password ( an email address and password)
— Domain Name Server (DNS) Addresses
— Fixed or Static IP Address
Should you have difficulty locating this information contact your ISP for assistance.
Connecting your Wireless Router to the Internet
Smart Wizard Setup Method:
The Smart Wizard CD setup process should take about 20 minutes to complete. . The wizard guides you through the setup process, automates the steps, and verifies that necessary conditions exist and that steps you perform have been successfully completed.
· Smart Wizard Setup:
1. Insert the NETGEAR CD into a Windows PC. The CD will automatically start and detect the language you are using on your PC. Accept the language option or change to a different language.
2. Click Next to proceed.
3. Click Setup to start the Smart Wizard installation assistant. Follow the wizard instructions.
Testing and Validating the Path from your PC to the Internet
After verifying that the path between your computer and the wireless router works correctly, test the path from your PC to the Internet. From the Windows run menu, type:
PING -n 10 <IP address>
where <IP address> is the IP address of a remote device such as your ISP’s DNS server.
If the path is functioning correctly, replies as in the previous section are displayed. If you do not
receive replies:
— Check that your PC has the IP address of your router listed as the default gateway. If the IP
configuration of your PC is assigned by DHCP, this information will not be visible in your
PC’s Network Control Panel. Verify that the IP address of the router is listed as the TCP/IP
default gateway.
