resources as well as budget since both of these work hand in hand and are essential to
facilitate the completion of a given project (Pinto, 2019). While discussing about some of the
constraints in a business, it is clear from the owner’s perspective that there may be project
managers who may not be willing to work with each other. The unavailability of costs, reduced
equipment, inefficient sub-contractors as well as a limited number of technicians also depict
some of the constraints at Sunrise Restoration and Remodeling. From the scenario, there is
the rule on First Come First Served which is mainly meant for the purpose of avoiding the
misuse of technicians and equipment. Nonetheless, this has not yet turned out in the favor of
Ken, because he has been clever in the way he works out his cases. 1 IN ADDITION,
THERE IS NO RESERVATION POLICY THAT MAKES IT SOMEWHAT HARD
FOR PLANNING OTHER PROJECTS.
3 2) IS SUNRISE’S CURRENT MODEL OF PRIORITIZING RESOURCE
ASSIGNMENTS VIABLE? 1 WHY OR WHY NOT?
It is clear from the scenario that the existing method of prioritizing resources assignment
available is not really viable. This is because some of the existing practices of the first come
first serve basis are not really effective since the project managers may not be able to plan
their future endeavors. 4 FOR INSTANCE, AS A RESULT OF THE REDUCED
NUMBER OF EQUIPMENT, I THINK THAT TYLER WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE
EQUIPMENT THAT DELAYED HIS PART OF THE PROJECT FOR AROUND 3
DAYS WHILE THE EQUIPMENT WAS GETTING USED BY KEN. 1 THIS MIGHT
BE A SMALL COMPANY, BUT IT DOES INCLUDE MORE THAN TWO PROJECT
MANAGERS AND IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY FOR THE THIRD MANAGER TO GET
HOLD OF EQUIPMENT BEFORE TYLER, WHICH WOULD BE A VERY BAD
SCENARIO FOR THE PROJECT. IF THE PROJECT MANAGER’S MAIN
CONCERN DRILLS DOWN ON HOW TO GET HOLD OF EQUIPMENT FIRST, HIS
OTHER PROJECT RELATED ACTIVITIES WILL BE IN TROUBLE. FIRST COME
FIRST SERVED BASES COULD HOLD GOODS IF IT HAS A RESERVATION
SYSTEM; THIS MEANS THAT THE FIRST AVAILABLE PERSON TO RESERVE
THE UNIT FOR FUTURE ACTIVITY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO USE IT. THIS
MOVE GIVES ENOUGH TIME FOR PROJECT MANAGERS TO PLAN
ACCORDINGLY (PINTO, 2019). ALSO, THIS WOULD FALL UNDER LUCK
CATEGORY OF THE PROJECT MANAGER GETTING THE EQUIPMENT EVEN
AFTER 3RD DAY.

3) HOW COULD TECHNOLOGY ALLEVIATE SOME OF SUNRISE’S RESOURCE
MANAGEMENT ISSUES?
4 THESE 3 DAYS OF IDLENESS NOT ONLY INCUR PROJECT TIME DELAY,
BUT BOTH WORKERS AS WELL AS THE PROJECT MANAGERS ARE
SUPPOSED TO BE PAID. 1 IF ANY FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITY IS BEING
PLANNED, THIS WOULD RESULT IN JEOPARDY; these activities include external
parties/vendors. 1 OTHER THAN THIS, SOME OF THE FEES TO ACCOMMODATE
INCLUDE UPDATED TIME OR DAY SETTING WILL BE INCURRED. 4 DESPITE
THE FACT THAT NOT ALL PROJECT MANAGERS WOULD WANT THEIR PLANS
TO BE DISCLOSED TO ONE ANOTHER, TECHNOLOGY CAN HELP KEEP THE
REST OF THE PLAN HIDDEN FROM OTHER PROJECT MANAGERS AND ONLY
HIGHLIGHT THE CONFLICTING PARTS. 1 IN THIS SCENARIO, THE PROJECT
MANAGEMENT RELATED SOFTWARE CAN BE REALLY HELPFUL TO
UNDERSTAND AVAILABILITY OF GIVEN RESOURCE IN FUTURE CASES.
TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN DEALING WITH SITUATIONS
LIKE THE ONES MENTIONED IN GIVEN CASE STUDY PERTAINING TO
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. AS MENTIONED ABOVE, THE RESERVATION
SYSTEM WOULD HELP THE PROJECT MANAGERS TO EFFICIENTLY PLAN
FOR THE PROJECT (PINTO, 2019). IF ALL PROJECT MANGERS’ PLANS ARE
HIGHLIGHTED UNDER ONE APPLICATION, IT WOULD SHOW ALL
CONFLICTING ACTIVITIES OR RESOURCE ALLOCATION BEFOREHAND
GIVING THE PROJECT MANAGER ENOUGH TIME TO NEGOTIATE OR LOOK
OUT FOR ALTERNATIVES AND PROVIDE TIMELINE ESTIMATES
ACCORDINGLY.
4) WOULD TYLER’S SUGGESTION TO HIRE ADDITIONAL TECHNICIANS AND
PURCHASE MORE EQUIPMENT SOLVE THE RESOURCE PROBLEMS AT
SUNRISE? WHY OR WHY NOT?
TIME IS THE PROBLEM. THAT BEING SAID, A SOLUTION SHOULD COME
OUT DEALING WITH HOW THE EQUIPMENT WOULD BE EQUALLY
AVAILABLE TO ALL PROJECT MANAGERS AND ON TIME. 4 ADDING NEW
EQUIPMENT WOULD INCREASE THE IDLE TIME WHICH WILL LATER
CONSUME UP THE BUDGET FROM THE COMPANY, RENDERING IT NON

EFFICIENT. 1 AS RIGHTLY STATED, THE ISSUE HAS OCCURRED FOR JUST A
SINGLE PROJECT MANAGER OUT OF MANY, HENCE IT CONSIDERED MORE
SUBJECTIVE THAN OBJECTIVE. THE PROJECT MANAGER NEEDS TO BE CO-
OPERATIVE AND WORK THE WAY OTHER PROJECT MANAGERS WOULD,
THAT IS; not complaining. 4 TYLER’S SUGGESTIONS ARE BASED ON HIS
CURRENT PROJECT, THUS, HIS SUGGESTIONS TO ADD TECHNICIANS AND
PROCURE MORE EQUIPMENT IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE OVERALL PROBLEM.
1 IT MIGHT SOLVE HIS PROBLEM PERTAINING TO HIS PROJECT, BUT IT
WILL CREATE PROBLEM FOR HIS OWNER ESPECIALLY ON THE IDLENESS
OF EQUIPMENT. The main problem is with equipment not available on given time and
since some of the effective technicians have proven to be rather limited in number, Sunrise
Restoration and Remodeling faces similar difficulty as other companies (Pinto, 2019).
Besides, the company does not really have a big list when it comes to effective sub-contractors
who get hired at reduced costs and give great results.
