2. Directions (Out of 10)

· did you briefly describe the media and family being portrayed in intro and offer a thesis statement for your paper that gives the reader an understanding of your analysis?
· do the body paragraphs focus on these areas of analysis (structure, ties, functions, etc)?
· did you correctly define and use the terms concerning family structure (when applicable?)

3. Analysis (10 points)
· did you define key concepts for analysis from chapter 11 notes/text?
· did you tie it back to notes, class, text, etc.? (especially in the fourth paragraph and reaffirmed in conclusion).
· did you analyze how social categories (ie. age, race, gender, class, etc) intersect with your “family?”
· did you analyze (briefly) any significant social contexts in which the “family” occur?
· did you offer an overall analysis (albeit brief) of the social institution of family in our society (social, legal, cultural perspectives) vs that depicted in your media?
